About Business2 Directory

Why a directory and not a review site

Reviews of trading platforms usually begin in the wrong place. They describe an interface, list features, estimate a user experience, and only then, if at all, ask who is on the other side of the contract. We reversed the order and then dropped everything after the first question.

A directory is the honest format for that. It has fixed columns, it is comparable across entries, and it exposes an absence in a way that prose comfortably hides. When forty records in a row have an empty operator column, the format makes the pattern visible without anyone having to editorialise about it.

What we record

Four things, for every name: the operating company, its country of registration, the supervisor with standing over it, and the entity that receives client payments. Each is either supported by a document we can describe, or left blank.

We also record name variants, because brands in this segment are built from interchangeable parts and readers regularly arrive at the wrong entry. Getting a visitor to the correct record is half of the work.

What we do not do

We publish no rankings, no scores and no awards. We give no investment advice and no recommendation to open or avoid an account. We do not describe how a platform performs, because a directory that cannot name the counterparty is not in a position to evaluate that counterparty's work.

We also do not invent. If a licence number, a company name or a country of registration is not in a source we can point at, it does not appear on this site in any form, including as a hedge or an implication.

The editors

Three people maintain the records. Rosalind Tewkes edits the directory and decides what a row is permitted to state. Emmett Kowalczyk handles the corporate side: names in footers, numbers in terms, searches in public registers. Ngaire Bramwell tracks where names are promoted and in which language, and flags when one brand starts appearing under another.

All three work to the same rule, which is the only rule this publication really has: a field gets filled by a document or it stays empty. How that rule is applied in practice is set out on the methodology page, and the commercial side of the site is described under why trust us.

Getting in touch

Corrections, documents and disputes go to the editors through the contact page. We prefer sources to summaries, and we check what arrives against its original before any record moves.
